How SASSA grant payment methods work, including bank deposits, Postbank and other collection arrangements.
01
Common payment methods
| Method | How it works | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Bank account | Electronic deposit into the beneficiary’s bank account | Account details and ownership must be correct |
| Postbank | Payment through the Postbank arrangement where applicable | Card/account access and current Postbank arrangements |
| Cash / pay point | Collection at a specified payment point where this option applies | Collection date, identification and local availability |
| Institution / administrator | Certain grants can be administered through an institution | The institution must be the recognised administrator |
| Cash Send / alternative payout | May be used in selected payment arrangements | Follow the payment message and avoid sharing OTPs |
02
Bank charges
A bank may charge its normal account or transaction fees. The grant amount and the net amount visible after banking charges are not always identical.
03
If payment fails
- Check whether the account is active.
- Check whether the account belongs to the beneficiary where required.
- Check account number and bank details.
- Wait for the payment record to update after a correction.
